Your Options. Your Choice.

It’s minimally invasive surgery. But it’s still surgery. The good news? Laparoscopic surgery relies on small incisions and helps optimize patient comfort and successful outcomes.

What’s this mean for me?
  • Smaller incisions
  • Less post-operative pain
  • Shorter operative time
  • Shorter recovery periods
  • Less stress on your body
  • Decreased change of significant infection
  • Decreased formation of internal cell issue or adhesions

Types of Weight Loss Surgery

At Einstein, almost all types of bariatric surgery are performed laparoscopically. Because the surgery is minimally invasive, it’s easier to get back to life more quickly. Often, patients stay in the hospital for just one night and can even return to work within as little as one week.

The surgeon performs the procedure through a few small incisions in the abdomen or opts for Robotic-assisted bariatric surgery, which uses the da Vinci® robot to perform the procedure through small incisions, much like laparoscopic surgery.

The best way to weigh your options of sleeve gastrectomy vs gastric bypass is to speak with one of our experienced and dedicated specialists. We can walk you through the main differences and help you choose the right approach.

What is Gastric Bypass Surgery?

Our Roux-en Y gastric bypass surgery program was the first in the region to use the da Vinci® Surgical System for robotic assistance during a gastric bypass procedure. Magnified views and better control to navigate instruments through tiny incisions. This minimally invasive weight loss technique produces the most dramatic weight loss results and offers several advantages over traditional gastric bypass surgery.

What is Sleeve Gastrectomy?

Sleeve gastrectomy, or vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) or gastric sleeve, is laparoscopic surgery that reduces your stomach to about a quarter of its size, resulting in a sleeve-shaped pouch.
